๐ธ Help track frog populations across South Australia during the first week of September with the FrogWatch SA Seasonal Census.
๐ฒ From 1 to 8 September, record frog calls using the FrogSpotter app or FrogWatch SA webpage.
Frogs are incredibly sensitive to pollution and habitat destruction and with numbers declining over the world, we need to better understand their distribution, habitat and breeding. This knowledge will enable conservation efforts to be better targeted and more effective.

Let's Talk... Wellington East Water Supply Project
Over the past two years, Council has been working with SA Water to explore the upgrading of ๐Wellington Eastโs water system to a safe, clean drinking system.
Right now, Council owns and operates the ๐ฑ non-drinking river water supply system which services a portion of properties located in the Wellington East township.
Council has now received a viable proposal from SA Water to transfer the service to a safe drinking water supply. This would mean better ๐ฐ water quality, more reliable service, and a system that SA Water will own and manage into the future.
With a project cost of $๐ฎ.๐ฐ๐ฑ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, to reduce the cost on residents Council has already secured $๐ญ.๐ต ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป in grant money to help pay for the project; however, to cover the project shortfall Council is asking each connected property to pay $๐ฎ,๐ณ๐ฑ๐ฌ over two years (2026/27 and 2027/28) as a separate rate on their rates notice (there will be flexible ways to pay, and help is available for people doing it tough).
โน๏ธ Please head to Council's website (www.coorong.sa.gov.au/letstalk) to find out more and view the full project ๐ information document before providing feedback.
Feedback is now invited from the community, and consultation will remain open until ๐ 5pm on Friday, 26 September 2025.

๐ฃ Monthly update from Mayor Simmons ๐
One of the most siginficant items recieved at the August meeting of Council was around the proposal recieved from SA Water to convert the current Council run non drinkable water system at Wellington East to a drinkable system run by SA Water.
Residents of the Wellington East area connected to the current system should expect to recieve more information in the ๐ฌ post this week (if not already) with more detailed information around Council's propsal to set a separate rate on the rates notices of those who would benefit from the system over the 2026/27 and 2027/28 financial years.
With $1.9 million in grant funding already secured by Council for the $2.45 million project, the remaining cost will be supported through a separate rate, asking future users of the system to contribute to the project designed to benefit them directly.
The Mayor invites community and residents of the Wellington East Community to attend the following information sessions:
