Unity Overview

Unity is a web based content management console and workflow system developed by Chimo that allows people with no knowledge of programming languages to update online content. It is a reliable, robust and tested software solution suitable for people of all technological ability, from experts to novices.

Unity allows content managers to relax with the knowledge that all content changes can be undone, no publishing goes live without approval and design integrity is ensured by using standard content templates across your entire website.

Unity is fundamental in allowing you to implement many advanced features and facilities for the complete management over all aspects of your website including allowing different people to provide content and others to approve it prior to publication.

The Unity administrator area provides a well structured navigation system to make site editing easy.

Content is created and stored in a database and passes through appropriate workflow and approval processes before being uploaded to the website. Site content is published into various display templates containing the graphical elements required.

All editorial features are designed to allow maximum control with instant publishing while preserving the "look and feel" from trivial tampering. All database contents are editable through the console while the templates are not, unless you are allowed to do so.

For an authorised person, templates are easily editable providing a fast turnaround for updating the corporate identity of a site, or the implementation of an alternative version such as a vision impaired or even a handheld PC site without disturbing the underlying structure of your existing content.

No knowledge of web programming languages such as HTML or graphical capabilities are required for website maintenance, as Unity utilises a "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) editor. Programmers and developers can, however, enhance and extend Unity with their IT knowledge.
